Churches are currently permitted to remain open for communal worship and private prayer and people are allowed to leave home to attend church. A number of churches in Devon have made the decision to close their buildings for the time being. In our benefice, St. Michael’s will remain open, but the three village churches are closed until further notice.
In the last few days, new advice has been received about worship during the peak of the pandemic. It is prudent therefore to suspend singing temporarily. However, we will continue to have wonderful organ music played during the service.
Torrington Community Foodbank: At present they are pleased to report that they have plenty of supplies to keep this vital service going and for the time being request that no further donations are taken to the collection points until further notice.
The Foodbank is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays 10-12 Noon for all who need a helping hand at the minute - no referral is necessary, just go along. (At the Baptist Church, New St)
The Daily Hope phone line is available 24 hours a day on 0800 804 8044. It is run by the Church of England and includes daily hymns, reflections and prayers. Please share information about it with anyone you know who is not online.
